Month 1
February 20th - March 20th 2007
Averie spent most of her first month of life traveling back and forth to the hospital to take care of Mama who was dealing with some post-partum complications. She was a very good girl, and made Mama's nurses and doctors smile. Both Mama and Daddy were very proud of how well she handled the transitions from home to hospital room, and also her interactions with so many new people.
Averie can hold her head up for 10 to 15 seconds when she's lying on her tummy on Mama or Daddy. She loves to stretch her arms and legs out, and can sometimes "hold" a bottle with her hands. She has the skills of a true escape artist, and can work her arms out of any swaddling device given the appropriate amount of time. (Note* - as of late, Daddy has perfected the swaddle, and it is becoming harder for our little Houdini to get out!)
Most of her day time hours are spent eating and sleeping. She is in the middle of a growth spurt, and eats frequently. At her 2 week checkup, she'd gained back to her birth weight, and at her 1 month checkup, she weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces. Right now, she often sleeps through a large part of the night hours, giving Mama and Daddy 5 to 6 hours of sleep. There are still many nights when she wakes several times, and it's usually because she's hungry or needs a new diaper. Luckily she has not figured out how to escape from her diapers.
Averie likes her pink flower chair, and sits in it a lot during the day. She also likes to watch the fish in her aquarium, and she likes to read books after she eats. While she does not like getting dressed, she does go through lots of clothes and blankets, and a large part of her days are spent getting cleaned up and into new, dry clothes.
Averie is happy and healthy, and Mama and Daddy are so thankful!

Month 2
March 21st - April 20th 2007
At two months old, Averie is a very happy and active baby. She now weighs 11 pounds, 3 ounces and is twenty-two inches long.
Averie usually sleeps from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. which is great for Mama and Daddy. She still loves to stretch out, and will cycle her arms and legs quickly if she's lying on her back. She can hold her head up with little wobbling when she's sitting up with support, and can grasp toys you place in her hand. She will try to grab toys when they are held in front of her, but she is still developing her hand-eye coordination, so she often misses the toys.
Her favorite toys right now are mama's old baby rattle which has a handle small enough for her to grasp and Leonardo, her black and white tiger. She likes to read books, and her favorites right now are The Golden Egg, Animals on the Farm and My First Counting Book from Little Golden Books, Moo, Baa, La, La, La, Little Quack and her Bright Baby - Colors book.
Averie had her first series of shots at this month's checkup - 3 in total. She will go back in a few weeks for one more shot before she starts daycare. She is growing well, and gaining weight appropriately for her age. She's in the 75th percentile for height, so she's a tall 2-monther.
Averie smiles and laughs a lot, and is starting to "talk" with Mama and Daddy. She likes music, especially Reggae and Electronica and she likes to go for rides in her stroller.
Averie is healthy, happy and growing. Mama and Daddy are proud and so excited to have her!
